Spring is the perfect time to clean out your closet and refresh your wardrobe. If you're looking for an effective way to get started & organize your clothes, consider using the Marie Kondo method.
The Marie Kondo method, also known as the KonMari method, is based on the idea of only keeping items that spark joy. This method encourages you to go through your clothes one category at a time, determining which items you truly love and wear regularly.
To begin, gather all of your clothes in one place, including items in storage or in drawers. Again I repeat, ALL OF YOUR CLOTHES. Hold each item one by one and ask yourself if it sparks joy. If it does, keep it. If not, it has served its time in your life, time to pass it on to its new life!
Quick note on ‘Joy Checking’-The concept of "sparking joy" refers to the idea of only keeping items that bring you true happiness or a sense of fulfillment. It's about surrounding yourself with possessions that make you feel good and positively impact your life, rather than holding onto things out of guilt or obligation.
As you go through your clothes, be honest with yourself about which items you really wear, and which ones are just taking up space. Remember, the goal is to create a wardrobe that brings you joy and reflects your personal style.
Once you've decided which items to keep, it's important to properly organize them. The KonMari method suggests organizing clothes by category, such as tops, pants, and dresses, and then storing them vertically so that you can see everything at a glance (more on this in a future blog post).
By using the Marie Kondo method to organize your clothes this spring, you can create a closet that is both functional and joyful. Not only will you save time getting dressed in the morning, but you'll also feel more confident and stylish in your refreshed wardrobe! Happy almost Spring!
